All schools in the Central Province will remain closed tomorrow (19) and Monday (22) due to the prevailing adverse weather conditions.

In support of relief efforts for communities affected by the Ditwah cyclone, Gift Sri Lanka Foundation and the Georgia Buddhist Vihara (GBV), USA, have made a financial contribution of USD 16,000 to the Government’s ‘Rebuilding Sri Lanka’ Fund.

Due to rainfall received since last night in certain catchment areas of the Mahaweli River, there is a possibility of flood conditions during the next 48 hours in the low-lying areas along the Mahaweli River within the following Divisional Secretariat Divisions  Kinniya, Muttur, Kantale, Seruvila, Welikanda, Lankapura, Thamankaduwa, and Dimbulagala.
