Speaker, (Dr.) Jagath Wickramaratne endorsed the certificate on the Proceeds of Crime Bill, on 30.04.2025, in Parliament.
The Acting Secretary General of Parliament, Mr. Chaminda Kularatne, has informed the Chairman of the Election Commission in writing, that a vacancy has occurred in the membership of the Tenth Parliament, in terms of the provisions of Article 66(a) of the Constitution with effect from 06th April 2025, due to the death of Kosala Nuwan Jayaweera, National People’s Power (NPP) Kegalle District Hon. Member of Parliament.

Speaker (Dr.) Jagath Wickramaratne announced to the House today (Feb. 14) that he has received the determination of the Supreme Court on the Bill titled “Local Authorities Elections (Special Provisions)” challenged in the Supreme Court under Article 121 (1) of the Constitution, which had been heard before a bench of three Judges.
