RO plant at Kaudulla Maha Vidyalaya, Medirigiriya declared open

 

The Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant, built as part of the Naval Social Responsibility (NSR) Project by the Navy's Research and Development Unit, was declared open at Kaudulla Maha Vidyalaya in the Divisional Secretariat of Medirigiriya yesterday (16).The project, carried out with industrial expertise of Research and Development Unit, was funded by Perera and Sons Bakers (Pvt) Limited. Also, the facility marked the 1076th unit delivered under the NSR Project.

Defence Secretary attends Air Force Passing Out ceremony

 

Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) was the Chief Guest of the Air Force Passing Out ceremony held at the Air Force Academy in China Bay, Trincomalee, yesterday (16). The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, received the Secretary upon his arrival at the venue.

Tri-Forces assistance for Paddy purchasing during Maha season

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has instructed the Ministry of Defence to take steps to develop necessary infrastructure facilities and provide technical assistance and labour support from the  Tri-Forces to repair warehouses belonging to the Paddy Marketing Board (PMB) and Sathosa to facilitate the purchasing of paddy in the upcoming Maha season.

“Voice of plantation people organization” members meet the Prime Minister

A special meeting between Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya and members of the Voice of plantation people organization was held at the Prime Minister's Office today (16).
In this meeting, issues related to fundamental rights including land, housing and education of Malaiyaha plantation workers, a marginalized community of Tamils living in the Southern and Western provinces of the country were discussed.
