BIMSTEC Secretary General, H.E. Indra Mani Pandey, called  on H.E. Sk. Bashir Uddin, Adviser to the Ministry of Commerce of Bangladesh. Secretary General congratulated Honourable Adviser on his appointment as Adviser to the Ministry and expressed gratitude for the continued support of the Ministry of Commerce in promoting cooperation in sectors of trade and investment, which Bangladesh leads.

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Riyadh, in collaboration with the Riyadh Municipality has launched a tree planting initiative in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and Saudi Arabia. The initiative also aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Green Initiative (SGI) under Vision 2030 which targets planting 10 billion trees in the Kingdom.

The High-Level Regional Consultation on Financing for Development in Asia and the Pacific concluded recently at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) in Bangkok. The two-day event, brought together representatives from member states, international organizations, development partners, and other key stakeholders to discuss critical financing issues and strategies to accelerate progress toward sustainable development in the region.

Deputy Minister Highlights Middle Eastern Relations at Arabic Language Day

Arun Hemachandra, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment, addressed the Arabic Language Day celebration at Galle Face Hotel, emphasizing Sri Lanka’s focus on strengthening ties with the Middle East under the leadership of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake recently. He noted the significance of the region, home to close to one million Sri Lankan workers, and highlighted plans for enhanced collaboration.
