Members of all ranks from the Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Navy and Sri Lanka Air Force have collectively donated a day's basic salary to the ‘Rebuilding Sri Lanka’ Fund, which established to restore livelihoods and rebuild the country following the devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwah.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake visited the temporary shelter operating at the Sri Sudarshanaramaya Temple, Welgala, Poojapitiya in Kandy, yesterday afternoon (01), to inquire into the well-being of families displaced by the landslide in the Ankumbura, Gankotuwa area and to review ongoing resettlement efforts.
The Kingdom Eco Lodge and Farm and the “93’ Api” group of the Colombo Nursing College have made financial contributions to the ‘Rebuilding Sri Lanka’ Fund, which was launched to restore the livelihoods of people affected by Cyclone Ditwah and to rebuild the disaster-stricken country.

Highlighting the spirit of global and regional cooperation, the Sri Lanka Navy acknowledged the invaluable support by foreign warships, which had arrived to take part in the International Fleet Review (IFR) 2025, extending much-needed Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations, during the recent weather disaster in Sri Lanka.
As we move forward to the New Year of 2026, it is timely to reflect on the year 2025 that has passed. The year 2025 can be granted as a year having made a number of decisive and progressive steps with a people oriented government.
