A low-pressure area located to the northeast of Sri Lanka continues to persist over the sea area close to the island. Due to the influence of this system, the prevailing rainy conditions across the country are expected to continue over the next few days.
Skies over most parts of the island will remain cloudy, with intermittent showers or thundershowers.
Heavy rainfall exceeding 100 mm may occur at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, North-Western and Northern Provinces, as well as in the Trincomalee District.
The public is kindly requested to take necessary precautions to minimise damages caused by temporary strong winds and lightning associated with thundershowers.
