As part of the Government’s national digitalization programme, a new online system has been introduced to issue concessionary railway season tickets for public sector employees.
Under the initiative, all concessionary railway season tickets will be available online through the Pravesha digital platform and the website www.pravesha.lk from July 2026 onwards.
The official launch of the government institution registration process for the system was held on June 9 at the Waters Edge Hotel in Battaramulla under the patronage of Deputy Minister of Transport and Highways, Prasanna Gunasena. Officials representing 35 government institutions participated in the inaugural event.
Public servants requiring concessionary season tickets can register for the service through the Pravesha mobile application or the Pravesha website, in coordination with the designated officer of their respective institution. Registered officers will be able to apply for July 2026 season tickets from June 15, 2026.
Implemented under the guidance of the Ministry of Transport, Highways and Urban Development and the Department of Railways through the Colombo Suburban Railway Project, the initiative aims to support the Government’s digital transformation agenda, improve the efficiency and quality of railway services, and enhance convenience for railway passengers.
