The government expects to give a positive response to the demands of dental surgeons – Minister Ramesh Pathirana

    March 16, 2021

Co-Cabinet Spokesman Minister Ramesh Pathirana said that the Minister of Health is already inquiring into the requests of dental surgeons and the government is looking forward to responding positively to those requests.

The Minister said this responding to a question asked by a journalist at the Cabinet decision media briefing held today (16) at the Department of Government Information.

He further added that the Minister of Health has already focused on the demands of the dental surgeons and that the dental surgeons are in the talks for a token strike due to several major legal issues affecting them.

Some of these issues include raising the retirement age of dental surgeons to 61 and focusing on the recruitment process considering the existing workload.

Furthermore, they have made this request based on a number of factors, including the formulation of a systematic plan for the acquisition of medical and surgical equipment and the granting of necessary appointments and training to dental assistants.

Minister Pathirana asserted that dental surgeons render an immense service and it is the responsibility of the government to provide them with the facilities they require
