An awareness workshop for the journalists in Galle and Matara Districts on Right to Information Act will be held today (4th Nov.) in Galle under the patronage the Minister of Parliamentary Reforms and Mass Media Gayantha Karunathilake and Deputy Minister Karunarathne Paranawithana.
Department of Government Information together with the Ministry of Parliamentary Reforms and Mass Media is organizing a series of Workshops Island wide to make the journalists and the relevant authorities aware on the implementation of RTI Act in the country.
Workshops in Rathnapura, Kandy, Kegalle, Trincomalee, Anuradhapura, and Polonnaruwa have already been held while the districts will be covered in the near future.
The Government official news portal is maintains by the New Media Unit of the Department of Government Information and it was titled "news.lk" and commenced in mid1996 and release to Internet from March 01st, 1997.
