Nanda Manamperi, a Sri Lankan lady registered with the SLBFE left for Saudi Arabia as a housemaid ten years ago and she was never paid the salary. She returned to the country with the assistance of the SLBFE, and she was paid her salary of Rs. 2,107,951.00 (Saudi Riyal 54,000.) for her service.
She had left for the foreign employment on 25th August, 2006. The officials were in alert on the whereabouts of this lady with a complaint made by her son in 2011. Once her employer visited the Saudi Embassy with this lady to renew her employment license the officials of the embassy had detained her at the ‘Suraksha’ house.
Minister of Foreign Employment Thalatha Athukorala handed over the cheque to her on Tuesday (1st Nov.).
