The Chairman of the Presidential Commission to Investigate into Complaints Regarding Missing Persons (PCICMP) Mr. Maxwell Paranagama and PCICMP Secretary Mr. H.W. Gunadasa met the Chairman of Sri Lanka’s Human Rights Commission (HRC), Retired Supreme Court Justice Mr. Priyantha Perera at the HRC office in Colombo on Thursday (09). The meeting focused on the complaints received by the Commission. Mr. Paranagama described in detail, to the Chairman of the HRC, the methodology and procedures adopted by the Commission in implementing the mandate granted by President Mahinda Rajapaksa. Mr. Perera informed Mr. Paranagama that the HRC too has received considerable complaints from next of kin of missing persons. It was agreed that persons who have made complaints to the HRC may also have submitted complaints to the PCICMP. Chairmen of the HRC and PCICMP agreed to share the information they have in their possession from relatives of missing persons and work together in an effort to find a solution to the complaints regarding missing persons.(pcicmp/KH)
