    More welfare measures for war hero families

    Initiating yet a another solider-friendly welfare project, Sri Lanka Army granted financial assistance for 46 families of fallen war heroes and differently-able war heroes under the patronage of the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva at the Army Headquaters yesterday (18th June), defence media reported.

    This noble project is aimed at uplifting their living standard whilst making them financially fit either to construct a house or to complete the partially built house. Accordingly each family received a financial grant worth of .5m during the session.

     

    Directorate of Veterans is the supportive hand behind this noble project. Thus, the Directorate has initiated similar financial assistances to 356 disable war heroes and families of fallen war heroes of the Army, spending over Rs 178 million so far.

     

    Meanwhile, Commander of the Army pledged to initiate similar welfare measures with-a-view to look after them all the way through.

     

    Major General E.M.M Ambanpola, Deputy Chief of Staff, Major General M. Hathurusinghe, Adjutant General, Major General H.C.P Goonatilleke, Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, Major General R.V Udawatte, Director General, Financial Management, senior officers, including Brigadier N.A.P.C Napagoda, Director, Veterans' Affairs and a large gathering were present.
