Complications can develop in them if they get infected with Influenza AH1N1 due to certain reasons such as low immunity level, reduced lung capacity etc. Pneumonia can develop in persons who are vulnerable. Pregnant mothers, elderly over 60 years, children below two years, persons with diabetes, chronic obstructive airways disease, heart diseases are in the high risk group. Symptoms appear within one week of infection, the sources added.
Meanwhile, a total of 24 persons have died from Influenza AH1N1 out of which 10 were pregnant mothers, consultant community physician Dr. Kapila Jayaratne said.
