The Urban Development Authority has identified Kurunegala Town to be developed as the Main Urban Centre in the North Western Province at a total cost of Rs. 217 Mn, under the Regional Township Development Project .
The Urban Development Authority (UDA) has already undertaken the beautification of the surrounding areas of’ the Kurunegala lake as one of the priority projects with a view to enhancing the aesthetic landscape of the town while providing recreational and leisure facilities for the public.
