Construction work of a major reservoir, which will prevent floods in the Galle District will commence on 8th January next year, Minister of Home Affairs Wajira Abeywardhana said.
He made these remarks addressing a ceremony held on Saturday (8th July) to hand over cheques each worth Rs. 10, 000 for the flood victims of Neluwa and Thawalama Divisional Secretariat Divisions.
These cheques were given for 1,592 and 240 families in Neluwa and Thawalama Divisional Secretariat Divisions respectively as an advance payment to construct their damaged houses.
