Sri Lanka Navy sailing team, represented by Chief Petty Officer WAR Nishantha and Leading Seaman MGMU Gunawardana, clinched the overall championship in the “Trinco Blu Sailing Regatta” organized by the Royal Colombo Yacht Club in Trincomalee recently.
Thirty-six contestants representing the York Motor Yacht Club, Royal Colombo Yacht Club, Royal College Colombo and St. Thomas College Colombo took part in this sailing regatta in which the Navy emerged champions.
The tournament was comprised of 03 events in total where Chief Petty Officer WAR Nishantha and Leading Seaman MGMU Gunawardana secured wins in both “Open” and “Enterprise” categories. Meanwhile Leading Seaman JMPL Jayasuriya won the first place in the “Laser” category.
