In view of the unrest that has arisen in the Middle East and the Gulf region, the Government has launched a series of special operations to look into the safety and welfare of foreign tourists currently in Sri Lanka, as well as to ensure the protection and well-being of Sri Lankan migrant workers overseas.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism is closely monitoring the evolving security situation in the Middle East, emphasizing that the safety and well-being of nearly one million Sri Lankan nationals living and working in the region remain the Government’s highest priority.

Mainly fair weather will prevail over the most parts of the island.

In light of the current situation in the Middle East region, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi has advised all Sri Lankan nationals in the United Arab Emirates to avoid unnecessary travel, exercise due caution, remain vigilant, and strictly follow safety guidelines and advisories issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates and the Embassy.
