Marking the 75th Anniversary of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL), a new commemorative Rs. 2000 banknote was presented this morning (29) to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake at the Presidential Secretariat by the Governor of the Central Bank, Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe.
United States Navy Ship (USS) Santa Barbara (LCS 32) arrived at the port of Colombo on a replacement purpose on 16 Aug 25. The Sri Lanka Navy welcomed the visiting ship in compliance with naval traditions.
In view of the “Clean Sri Lanka” Initiative, the National Authority for the Chemical Weapons Convention (NACWC) successfully conducted the Inter-Ministerial Awareness Programme on the Mitigation of Chemical Threats with the participation of 90 senior and mid-level government officials from various ministries and departments yesterday (28) at the Nandimithra Auditorium of the Ministry of Defence.

The awarding ceremony of Mitsubishi Asian Children's Enikki festa organized by the Sri Lanka National Commission for UNESCO with the sponsorship of the Mitsubishi Corporation to appreciate the school children who won the “Mitsubishi Asian Children’s Enikki Festa” picture-diary competition was held on August 28 at Temple Trees, with the chair of the Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, who is the Chairperson to the Sri Lanka National Commission for UNESCO, together with H.E. ISOMATA Akio, Ambassador of Japan to Sri Lanka.
For the first time in Sri Lanka’s history, the Research Priorities for Sri Lanka – 2026 report, aligned with the Government’s socio-economic development programme, was officially presented this morning (28) to the Secretary to the President Dr Nandika Sanath Kumanayake at the Presidential Secretariat.
The Indonesian Naval Ship KRI BRAWIJAYA-320 arrived at the Port of Colombo on a replenishment visit yesterday (27). The Sri Lanka Navy welcomed the visiting ship in compliance with naval traditions.
