The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has announced a temporary relaxation of petrol distribution rules for the Sinhala and Tamil New Year season.
CPC Chairman D.J. Rajakaruna stated that motorists will be allowed to obtain petrol without QR-based quota restrictions from midnight today (11) until April 18. However, he emphasized that the odd-even system based on vehicle number plates will remain in operation during this period.
The CPC also confirmed that the QR system for diesel will continue unchanged.
In addition, CPC Managing Director Mayura Netthikumarage noted that a shipment of 30,000 metric tonnes of furnace oil is due to arrive tomorrow (12) to support electricity generation.
