Litro Gas Lanka Limited has assured the public that there is no need for panic buying despite a temporary shortage of LP gas cylinders in the market.
Chairman Channa Gunawardana stated that the short-term supply constraint was caused by an unexpected surge in demand for Litro Gas and a two-day gas supply interruption on February 14, 2026. He emphasized that immediate measures have been taken to restore normal distribution.
Accordingly, 284,000 domestic refill cylinders were issued on February 17 and 18. A further 351,000 domestic refill cylinders are scheduled to be released from today until Saturday to meet consumer demand.
The company has also placed orders for adequate stocks, with three shipments expected to arrive before the end of the month to further stabilize supply.
Chairman Gunawardana reiterated that there will be no future shortage of gas and assured consumers that sufficient stocks have been secured to maintain uninterrupted distribution.
