The Vice President of India, Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan, who arrived in Sri Lanka on a two-day official visit, departed the island this afternoon (20) for India.
He left the country from the Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake, upon the conclusion of his visit.
Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation Dr Anura Karunathilaka, was present at the airport to bid farewell to the visiting dignitary and his delegation. The High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka, Mr Santosh Jha, also attended the occasion.
The Indian Vice President arrived in Sri Lanka on the 19th and during his two-day visit, participated in several important discussions and programmes. He held bilateral talks with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya on 19th April.
Subsequently, he met members of the Indian community residing in Sri Lanka and visited the Kathiresan Kovil in Bambalapitiya and the Gangaramaya Temple, Hunupitiya where he participated in religious observances and received blessings.
On the second day of his visit, the Vice President toured housing projects in the Nuwara Eliya district implemented with Indian assistance and met members of the Malayagam community
After participating in religious observances at the Seetha Amman Kovil in Nuwara Eliya, Indian vice President Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan concluded his official visit and departed from Sri Lanka.
