H.E. Ambassador Indra Mani Pandey, Secretary General of BIMSTEC, paid a courtesy visit to the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, at the Prime Minister’s Office recently.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Amarasuriya welcomed the Ambassador Pandey and expressed Sri Lanka’s continued commitment to regional cooperation within BIMSTEC. The discussions focused on key areas of collaboration, including health, human resource development, and digitalization, where Sri Lanka has played a leading role.
Ambassador Pandey highlighted the importance of strengthening these sectors to drive economic and social development among BIMSTEC member states.
The upcoming 6th BIMSTEC Summit, scheduled to be held in Thailand, was also focused during the discussion.
Dr. A. Saj U. Mendis, Country Director of BIMSTEC , Pradeep Saputhanthri, Secretary to the Prime Minister; Ms. Sagarika Bogahawatta, Additional Secretary and Ms. Prarthana Kaushaila, Assistant Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wera also participated.
