The Government has announced the minimum purchase prices for paddy for the 2025/2026 Maha season, with the Paddy Marketing Board (PMB) officially launching its procurement programme.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Department of Government Information today (16), PMB Chairman A.M.U. Pinnalanda said that Rs. 10 billion has been allocated for this season’s paddy purchases.
Under the newly announced pricing structure, the PMB will purchase paddy at the following guaranteed minimum prices:
Keeri Samba – Rs. 140 per kg
Samba – Rs. 130 per kg
Nadu – Rs. 120 per kg
The initiative is aimed at stabilizing the paddy market during the peak harvest period while ensuring fair and stable income for local farmers.
