The Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security, D.W.R.B. Senevitharathna, has assured that any attempts to destabilize the country will not be tolerated and that authorities will take swift action to maintain stability.
Speaking at a media briefing today (22), he highlighted recent clashes between organized crime gangs in the Western and Southern Provinces, confirming that police and the Special Task Force (STF) have arrested all suspects involved. He noted that political influences contribute to these conflicts.
Senevitharathna also stated that many crime leaders operate from abroad and that diplomatic efforts are underway to extradite them. Additionally, authorities have resumed investigations into the 2019 Easter attacks, uncovering new details. He warned that groups attempting to undermine these investigations have been identified and will face strict legal action.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating organized crime and ensuring national security.
