The three-day special tourism development study visit organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism for Heads of Foreign Missions based in Colombo concludes yesterday (20), following a series of engagements highlighting the cultural, economic, investment and tourism potential of Sri Lanka’s Eastern Province.
The delegation visited Pasikuda Beach on the first day, followed by a dinner showcasing traditional dances of the Eastern Province, attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath. The participants also viewed an exhibition featuring products by small and medium-scale handicraft producers.
On the second day, the delegation visited the Eravur Export Processing Zone, Seruwawila Buddhist Temple and Koneswaram Hindu Temple, where they participated in religious observances. An Investment Forum was also held in Trincomalee with the participation of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment Arun Hemachandra.
On the final day, the delegation visited the Naval Dockyard and Naval Museum in Trincomalee and took part in a boat ride before returning to Colombo.
The visit aimed to showcase the Eastern Province to the international community and promote new opportunities for investment, tourism development and regional cooperation.
