The Committee on Public Finance considered two supplementary estimates and a Resolution. Accordingly, the proposed supplementary estimates to provide provisions for a nutrition pack to pregnant mothers suffering from nutritional deficiencies, for the settling of unpaid bills by the China EXIM bank for the Kandy North Pathadumbara Integrated Water Supply Project and for the completion of the remaining work of the project and a Resolution on Sri Lanka and The United Arab Emirates on the Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of investments were taken into discussion.
This was discussed at the meeting of Committee on Public Finance Chaired by Hon. Member of Parliament (Dr.) Harsha de Silva on 02.09.2025.
Accordingly, the Committee on Public Finance considered the Supplementary Estimate of the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs in detail the utilization of the provisions allocated under the budget proposal to provide essential food items at a concessionary price during the new year period for providing a nutritional food package to expectant mothers.
Moreover, Supplementary Estimate of the Ministry of Urban Development, Construction and Housing for settling unpaid bills by the China EXIM bank for the Kandy North Pathadumbara Integrated Water Supply Project and for the completion of the remaining work of the project was also taken into discussion following which both the said estimates received the approval of the Committee.
The Resolution on the agreement between the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates on the promotion and reciprocal protection of investments was also approved by the Committee following discussions.
The meeting was attended by Hon. Deputy Minister Chathuranga Abeysinghe, Hon. Members of Parliament Ravi Karunanayake, Rauff Hakeem, Attorney at Law, and (Dr.) Kaushalya Ariyarathne, Harshana Rajakaruna, Sunil Rajapaksha, Lakmali Hemachandra, Attorney at Law, Nishantha Jayaweera were present at the Committee meeting held.
