Consular Services Generate USD 3.31 Million in Revenue in 2025

Sri Lanka’s Consular Services delivered strong results in 2025, combining efficient public service with significant contributions to the national economy.

From 1 January to 31 December 2025, the Consular Division and Regional Consular Offices processed 516,006 documents for 233,484 applicants under their authentication services, generating USD 1.58 million in revenue.

During the same period, the Division also successfully recovered USD 1.58 million in compensation, strengthening accountability and safeguarding the rights and interests of Sri Lankan citizens.

Following the introduction of the Birth, Marriage and Death (BMD) Programme in February 2025, a total of 6,618 certified copies were issued, contributing USD 145,544 in revenue.

Altogether, Consular Services and related programmes generated a total revenue of USD 3.31 million in 2025. Officials state that these achievements reflect a strong commitment to effective service delivery, transparency, and measurable outcomes that benefit both the public and the national economy.
