The nationwide ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ programme, designed to enhance efficiency and productivity in the public service, begins today (01) in all government institutions.
The initiative focuses on creating a healthy, organized, and accessible work environment for state officials. Based on the productivity concept of ‘Seiri’, the programme encourages institutions to identify what is necessary, remove what is not, and make better use of limited office space.
As per a circular issued by the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government, all government bodies are required to dedicate two hours each morning this week to cleaning and organizing their premises. Attention will be given to both interiors and exteriors, including entrances, surrounding roads, and facilities for persons with disabilities.
Institutions have also been instructed to properly dispose of outdated files, unusable items, and old vehicles. Officials have been urged to establish a permanent system to maintain the improved environment beyond ‘Seiri Week’.
