A delegation led by Masato Kanda, President of the Asian Development Bank, who is currently in Sri Lanka on a three-day official visit, took part in an tour of the Port of Colombo yesterday (23).
The delegation was received by Secretary to the Ministry of Ports and Civil Aviation W.W.S. Mangala and Chairman of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority, Dr. Parakrama Dissanayake. They were subsequently escorted to the port’s pilot control center. Senior officials of the SLPA were also present at the occasion.
The Asian Development Bank has been providing long-term financial assistance for development projects at the Colombo Port. During the visit, the ADB President and his delegation reviewed ongoing development projects and operational activities at the port.
Discussions were also held on future development proposals and improving operational performance. In addition, attention was given to further strengthening cooperation between the Ministry of Ports and Civil Aviation, the Sri Lanka Ports Authority, and the Asian Development Bank.
