The Navy Boat Building Yard, Welisara on 17 Mar 25 hosted a significant event where sixty (60) kayaks and canoes, produced at the facility, were officially handed over to prominent sports clubs across the island. This initiative was spearheaded by the Association for Canoeing and Kayaking in Sri Lanka with support from the International Canoe Federation.
Accordingly, 30 kayaks and 30 canoes, crafted using Navy's specialized technical expertise, were handed over to a number of sports clubs across the island. The recipients include the Sri Lanka Army, Navy, Air Force, Bolgoda Lake Rowing Club, Lanka Adventure, Adventure SEAL, the North Wing Project in Jaffna, Diyawanna Water Sports Club, University, Naval and Maritime Academy, as well as several provincial schools.
