31,000 Houses Planned Under National Housing Program 2026 -  Rs. 1,500 Million to Be Distributed for 1,500 Families

Susil Ranasinghe, Minister of Housing, Lands and Water Supply, announced that 31,000 houses are scheduled to be constructed this year under the National Housing Program 2026.

Speaking at a media briefing held at the Government Information Department yesterday (23) on the program titled “A Place of One's Own – A Beautiful Life – 2026,” the Minister stated that the distribution of cheques worth Rs. 1,500 million for the construction of 1,500 houses for 1,500 families will commence tomorrow (25) across 13 districts.

He further revealed that under this initiative, low-income families will receive a non-refundable financial assistance of Rs. 1 million per family to build their own homes. The program aims to empower families by ensuring secure housing and improving their quality of life.
