The Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Sri Lanka, H.E. Semih Lütfü Turgut, met with the Speaker of the Parliament of Sri Lanka, Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne, at the Parliamentary premises recently.
During the discussions, the Speaker and the Ambassador exchanged views on key aspects of the longstanding bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Turkey. The discussions focused on avenues to further strengthen cooperation, including the revival of the Sri Lanka-Turkey Parliamentary Friendship Association in the Tenth Parliament, which aims to foster closer ties between the two nations through parliamentary diplomacy.
As part of his visit to Parliament, H.E. Semih Lütfü Turgut also met with the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Dr. Rizvie Salih. During their discussion, the Ambassador reiterated Turkey’s commitment to continued collaboration and support for Sri Lanka, highlighting the importance of deepening mutual understanding and partnership in areas of common interest.
The Secretary General of Parliament, Mrs. Kushani Rohanadeera, was also present at the meeting.
