An undetermined number of civilians have been killed or wounded during the three-week military intervention led by Saudi Arabia, which has not achieved its goal of bringing President Abd Rabu Mansur Hadi back to office.
According to unofficial reports, more than 500 people have been killed by the air and naval raids carried out by the coalition or in combats between Houthies and Army forces, on one side, and tribal militias and troops loyal to Mansur Hadi, on the other side.
Sources close to the Houthi movement Ansar Allah assured that more than one million men have joined its ranks over the past few weeks to fight the nine-country military alliance.
The coalition is made up of five of the six members of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Qatar, in addition to Egypt, Jordan, Sudan and Morocco.
Oman, the sixth GCC member, has limited its support to the political area to preserve its good relations with Iran, whose government assures that its support for the Houthies is restricted to humanitarian issues.
