    National carrier to celebrate 70th anniversary tomorrow

    The Commercial Aviation of Sri Lanka will celebrate its 70th anniversary tomorrow (10th Dec.).

     

    On 10th December in 1947, a Douglas DC-3 aircraft named ‘Sita Devi’ took off from Ratmalana airport for Palalay Jaffna and Madras. With this historic flight, Air Ceylon, the national carrier of Sri Lanka was born.

     

    The aircraft fleet of the national carrier launched with classic DC-3 aircrafts is now comprised with state-of-the-art Airbus 320s and 330s.
