    PM Nawaz updated on ongoing military ops. in North Waziristan

    Pakistan's Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Thursday visited the General Headquarters of the Pakistan Army to get an update on the progress on the Operation Zarb-e-Azb to flush out terrorists from North Waziristan.  The Prime Minister is regularly in touch with the senior military leadership since the launch of the operation to clear the North Waziristan and other areas from terrorists.


    Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif received the Prime Minister on his arrival and a contingent presented him guard of honour.  Prime Minister laid a floral wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada and paid rich tributes to the officers and jawans for their supreme sacrifice for the country.


    The Prime Minister was briefed by the military officials on ongoing operation Zarb-e-Azb in North Waziristan Agency.


    Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Advisor on National Security Sartaj Aziz and Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi accompanied him.


    The Prime Minister on this occasion expressed satisfaction over progress in North Waziristan operation. He said that Operation Zarb-e-Azb was launched to establish writ of the state and the armed forces are achieving successes in the operation as planned to eliminate terrorism.


    The Prime Minister said that the government will provide all resources to the Army for the operation along with its day to day requirements. He also said that the entire nation supports Army in the operation against terrorists in North Waziristan.


    The Prime Minister directed NADRA to intensify verification process of registered IDPs.


    The Prime Minister further added that  Protection of Pakistan Act, 2014 has been promulgated to provide security forces effective legal cover.(PBC/KH)
