    Army Elle Finals Concludes at Palaly

    Players of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC) and 7th Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps (7 SLAWC) respectively secured the trophy for champions of Inter Regiment Elle tournament (men) and Inter Battalion Elle tournament (women) at the final played on Thursday (13) at Palaly. SLAC encountered Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) team, men’s runners up, at the final match while the women’s competition was held between 7 SLAWC and 5 SLAWC, women’s runners up.

    Matches started on November 8th at Palaly and Kankesanthurai where male teams from 13 regiments and 5 teams from SLAWC vied for the trophy.

     

    Trooper Perera KASR of 1 SLAC secured the award for the all rounder (men) while Lance Corporal Wasantha JAPD of 6 SLAC and Private Malinga WASC of 8 SLSR were respectively awarded as the highest scorer and most number of catches in men’s category.

     

    Corporal Ranathunga RAAM of 7 SLAWC was adjudged the all rounder (women). Lance Corporal Pathmachandra RDN of 5 SLAWC won the award for the most number of catches and Lance Corporal Buddini WM of 5 SLAWC won the highest scorer’s award. The match was judged by judges of Sri Lanka Elle Association.

     

    Major General Udaya Perera presented a special gift to Milan Perera, an Elle enthusiast from Ganemulla who quenched the thirst of players waking all over the ground throughout the match.

     

    Commander Security Force Jaffna (SF-J) and Chairman Sri Lanka Army Cricket Committee Major Genera Udaya Perera graced the occasion as chief guest. Director Sri Lanka Army Sports Brigadier Athula Galagamage and senior officers of the SF-J and other ranks were present on the occasion.(KH)
