    Sri Lanka enter semi-final of SAFF Women's tourney

    Sri Lanka women secured thier place in the semi-final when they overcame Bhutan by 3-0 in their second match of the third SAFF Women's Football Championship 2014 at Jinnah Football Stadium, Islamabadh in Pakistan on Friday (14).

    S. Achala Chitrani scored the first goal for the winners in the 20th Minutes while L. E. Kumudumala in the 39th minute added the second goal. Three minutes later Praveena Maduki scored another goal to make it 3-0 in favour of Sri Lanka.

     

    Earlier Sri Lanka Women overcame Pakistan by 2-1 in the opening match of the tournament at the same venue. Sri Lanka will meet Nepal on Sunday with no change of the venue.

     

    Nepal women who are also in Group B have won two matches so far. They overcame Bhutan by 8-0 and hosts Pakistan by 2-0.

    If Sri Lanka win the game on Sunday they will face runner up of group A in the semi final which will give some comfort for the lasses.
