    Sri Lankan Team for 4th World Cup Carrom Championship

    4th  World Cup Carrom Championship will take place in a beautiful island of Maldives from 13th September to 17th September 2014.

    Players from 16 countries including Sri Lanka, Maldives, India, Canada, America, England, German, France, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, Poland and Switzerland will  participated in the Game.

     

    8 players including 4 men and 4 women from Sri Lanka will be taking part in the 4th Carrom World Cup said Ms. Rohini Mathayas, Secratary of Sri Lanka Carrom Federation.  Nishantha Fernando who is Champion of 3rd Carrom World Cup, 2012 is also expect to take part.

     

    The Sri Lanka team will comprise of  Chamil Cooray (captain), W.D. Nishantha Fernando, Moshammed Shaheed, M.T.M. Hilmy  for the Men's  team and Joseph Roshita (captain), Chalani Lakmali Liyanage, R.A.D. Madushika Kanchanamalaand  Arosha Kaushali Wickremasinghe for the women's team.

     

    Practicescommenced on August 28 and will continue until September 11 at the Carrom Federation (CFSL) headquarters premises in Maharagama.

     

    The team with officials will depart to Maldives on September 12,  Ms. Mathayas said.

     

    The International Carrom Federation appeals to all federations to give maximum cooperation to the Carrom Association of Maldives by taking part with full strength in the 4th World Cup and giving it maximum possible publicity in their national media.

     

    This World Cup is going to be a historic event which will inspire Carrom players all over the world and  promote this game further.(KH)
