Sri Lanka Army sport personnel who represented the country at the 12th South Asian Games 2016 were felicitated by the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva during a ceremony held at the Military Hospital auditorium, Narahenpita yesterday (20).
During the event these 65 army sport personnel, who competed in both individual and team events and won 54 medals (5 Gold, 21 Silver, 28 Bronze) at the South Asian Games were recognized for their contribution to the country.
Cash rewards were also presented to the Army sport personnel and coaching staff during the ceremony.
Senior officials of the Army, Army sports veterans, retired senior sportsmen and women and officials of the Ministry of Sports also attended the event.
