A sathyagraha was staged by the RDA workers numbering 235 for a number of days at the Sethsiripaya premises, Battaramulla demanding reinstatement .

The workers who lost their employment met the President on April 17. Ministers Mahinda Amaraweera and Lakshman Yapa Abeywardene were also present. The President after listening to their grievances, issuing a directive to the authorities to reinstate them, also requested the workers to report for work on Monday (20).

The President also ordered to reinstate 93 employees who lost their jobs at the Board of Investment. They were also engaged in the fast with the RDA employees.
