Former All Ceylon Muslim Congress (ACMC) Eastern Provincial Council member, Ameer Ali, took oaths as a Member of Parliament today before Deputy Speaker Chandima Weerakkody to fill the seat vacated by the UPFA’s National List MP A.H.M. Azwer.
When the House met today Serjeant-at-Arms Anil Parakrama Samarasekera guided Ali to the Chair and the latter was sworn in.
UPFA National List MP A.H.M. Azwer resigned from Parliament on November 28 while it was proposed that Ameer Ali be given the MP seat.
Ameer Ali Shihabdeen, a former Parliamentarian and former Minister of Disaster Relief Services, is a member of Minister Rishad Bathiudeen’s All Ceylon Muslim Congress in Eastern Provincial Council. (Special Reporter/HC)
