    Kingswood College presents to the President the 100 years of Scouting Program

    The 2nd Kandy Scout Troop found on 4th of March 1914 is celebrating its centenary year of scouting this year. Continuing such a long tradition for 100 years is truly a remarkable achievement.

     

    The Kingswood Scout Troop is known all around the country as well as in South Asia for its, remarkable achievement of hosting the oldest memorial Hike in South Asia and most probably in asia the J.J.P.Dehigama Memorial Orienteering Competition.

     

    Accordingly, to celebrate the remarkable achievement of 100 years of scouting, Kingswood scouts will be organising a rare event for scouts and guides from all over Sri Lanka with an event named "Centennial Roks", a four-day program of  hikes full of movements of adventure, Knowledge, thinking, commitments, power, teamwork, surviving, funny, culture and nature from October 23 to 26, which will be the first ever hiking festival in Sri Lanka.

     

    The itinerary of the programme was handed over to President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Friday (10) by the Principal of Kingswood College PGS Bandara at the President’s House.

     

    Central Provice Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake, Deputy Principal of the College, and the Scouts leader HLK Kapila Priyantha were present at the occasion.

     

    This program will include a night hike, a survival hike, a water hike and the 30th J.J.P. Dehigama memorial orienteering hiking competition. (KH)
