The President made these remarks at the ceremony of State Musical Awards 2015 held at the BMICH on Thursday (17).

The State Musical Awards ceremony was organized by the Department of Cultural Affairs to honour and encourage musicians in the field and to raise awareness of high-quality music in the society.

The President further said that the government would fulfill its duty towards the artistes to uplift the musical field as they enrich the nation.

Musicians and artists have been accepted by the world as universal characters, the President said and added that the government will provide every possible support to create an environment where prominent artistes as well as junior artistes could conquer the world through their talents and skills.

The President presented awards to the winners. Minister of Cultural Affairs S B Navinna, Secretary D Swarnapala, Director General of the Department of Cultural Affairs, Anusha Gokula and prominent artistes, singers and musicians were present on the occasion.
