    Govt. committed to uplift economic conditions of farming community- President Featured

    President Maithripala Sirisena said that he is not ready to keep farmers of this country unsatisfied, as a politician who grew with the farming community and knowing their tears and joys.

    The President said that he is always with the farming community according to his conscience and the Government will take every possible step to uplift the economic conditions of the farming community and the agricultural sector of the country.

     

    He made these remarks addressing a public rally at the Laggala Police ground , Friday (06).

     

    Even though many projects and investments come into our country, as a country, our future is based on the development of the agricultural sector, the President said.

     

    The President further said that the compensation paying process for the families, who lost their land and properties due to the Project will be conducted speedily while listening to their requests.

     

    The President pointed out the importance of carrying out development projects with high standards.

     

    President pointing out to the politicians comprising major political parties present with him at the same stage, said that whatever others may say this is the only example for a political culture which can take our country forward to a new era.

     

    Ending the era of dividing into political groups , the two major political parties united to develop this country, President Sirisena said.

     

    “I will not allow to diminish the faith people placed in me on January 8 to protect the freedom and democracy of this country and to build a country free of corruption, “ he added.

     

    The President said that he will call a special Cabinet Meeting to confer powers to take decisions to conduct investigations on corruption, including the Avant-Garde case in a more correct and transparent manner.

     

    The President participated in this public rally subsequent to participating in many development works.

     

    Mr. Thilak Marapana – Minister of Law and Order, Mr. Sarath Ekanayaka- Chief Minister of Central Province, Mr. Wasantha Aluwihare- State Minister of Agriculture, Deputy Minister of Plantation Industries- Lakshman Wasantha Perera, Central Provincial Minister- Bandula Yalegama,were among the participants present.
