The school was constructed at a cost of 4.6 Million rupees, under the Moragahakanda Kaluganga Development Project for the children of the people living in the Navaguruwela region and is equipped with all necessary facilities. The President after opening of the school, registered the first student to the school.

The President also participated in a ceremony to declare open the new Co-operative society building, The President was warmly welcomed by the people gathered at the event.

The Rural Health Center and the sub Post Office in the Nawaguruwela was also declared open by the President.

The President also donated funds for the temples in the area and awards for the students who passed Year Five Scholarship Examination.
