A National Film, Television and Soundtrack Archive will be launched at the Department of National Archives on April 5 at 10am. The National Film, Television and Soundtrack Archive, a concept of President Mahinda Rajapaksa will be launched marking the 95th birth anniversary of Dr. Lester James Peries, with the participation of National Heritage Minister Dr.Jagath Balasuriya, Mass Media & Information Minister Keheliya Rambukwella and Member of Parliament Dr.Malani Fonseka. The National Archives Department has also organized an exhibition titled "Dr.Lester James Peries Cinamavalokanaya" showing stills of cinematic journey of Dr Lester James Peries who is revered as one of Asian greats in World Cinema. The exhibition will be inaugurated by Dr.Lester James Peries and Ms.Sumithra Peries at the National Archives Department premises on April 5. A press conference in this regard was held today at the Auditorium of the Ministry of Mass Media & Information presided by Minister Keheliya Rambukwella. Monitoring MPs Ms.Malani Fonseka, A.H.M.Azwer, Media Ministry Secretary Charitha Herath, National Film Corporation Chairman Charitha Herath and Director General of National Archives Ms.Saroja Wettasinghe were present.
