A programme to grant financial assistance to 31 estate members of the Akmeemana Tea Research Division in the Galle District was launched under the patronage of Minister of Mass Media Gayantha Karunatilake.
This assistance has been granted by the Tea Smallholders Development Authority. The expenditure incurred on the granting of this financial assistance was 715,000 rupees. The handing over of cheques to these members was made by Minister Gayantha Karunatilake.
The function was held at Welihena in Galle. Southern Provincial Councillor Wijayapala Hettiarachchi and Regional Manager of the Tea Smallholders Authority P.G. Somasiri were among those present on the occasion.
