    Dial 1977 to inform of traders breaching the Consumer Act Featured

    The Consumer Affairs Authority has said that it will constantly launch the programme of examining supermarkets countrywide. It pointed out that legal action has been taken against 35 shops that had violated the Consumer Act.

    Island wide operations are in place to nab traders selling food commodities unsuitable for human consumption. The Consumer Affairs Authority examined many supermarkets during these operations for selling expired goods, non-displaying of price lists and selling goods beyond the control price.

     

    Accordingly Director General of the Authority J.M.A. Douglas said that legal action has been instituted against 35 shops. The Authority has called on the public to inform traders breaching the Consumer Act on contact number 1977.
