A total cost of Rs.5336 million, and Rs.258 million respectively have been spent to provide Rs.5000, and Rs.2000 payments on four occasions in providing relief to the affected families, he said.
Rs.803 million has been spent to supply a quota of essential food rations each worth of Rs.10000 to 80370 families who underwent quarantine during the past one and half years. In addition, Rs.1550 million has been spent to provide packs of essential commodities each worth Rs.5000 to 33461 families weekly when they were confined to isolated areas on different occasions.
The District Secretary further said that the Government has spent a large amount of money for the welfare of the residents in the Colombo District when they were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
