Speaker of the Sri Lankan Parliament, Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena stated in Parliament today (24) that necessary measures will be taken promptly to remove the waste in the Diyawanna lake upon informing the Sri Lanka Land Development Corporation.
The Speaker said this in response to a question raised by the Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa. The Opposition Leader also pointed out that the water in the lake had become very polluted due to the addition of a green substance on both sides of the road leading to Parliament.
